Frequently Asked Questions
-
Will my car be tuned on a dyno? (rolling road)
Yes. ECU remapping is a complex process and can’t be carried out accurately or professionally without your car being tuned on a dyno. Our advanced dyno facilities allow us to test and fine tune your car in a safe, controlled environment, something that cant be carried out legally or safely on the public roads.
-
Are your remaps custom or generic?
Possibly one of the most misunderstood elements of ECU remapping. Custom remaps are better as they are fine tuned to your vehicle on a rolling road, far safer and more accurate. Generic remaps are often carried out by amateur/mobile tuners, and are usually of poor quality (even if they claim its a custom remap, its usually not!)
-
How long does it take?
A typical ECU remap will take 2-3 hours, but sometimes longer. As part of every remap we will carry out a diagnostic test and a visual check over to ensure that your car is suitable for tuning. We will then get some baseline data and power and torque readings before tuning commences. Nothing is rushed, perfection takes time!
-
Do you keep my original ECU calibration?
Yes. We take a backup of your standard calibration (when possible) and it is then stored on our secure server. You are welcome to have a copy if you wish. We are able to restore your vehicles software calibration back to standard at any time incase of visits to a dealer or if you are selling the car.
-
Is my car insured while you are working on it?
Not a question thats asked often, but one you should definitely ask when deciding on who you choose to remap your car! Every vehicle we work on is covered by our insurance, up to a maximim of £250,000 per vehicle incase of damage or theft. All work we carry out is also insured.

Do I get a warranty with an ECU remap?
While carrying out a remap on your vehicle, we take full responsibility for the engine control unit and its operation. In the unlikely case that any issues arise during the ECU remapping process we will strive to carry out recovery, repair or replacement of the ECU as required, however we must stress that this it is very rare that we have any such issues.
